Instrumental Music Program
Learning an instrument is one of the most beneficial activities to a child’s development. At Genesis we provide a quality instrumental program.
The Instrumental Music program caters for a wide variety of instruments through provision of specialised training. Students involved have opportunities to perform on Mother’s Day, Grandparents’ Day, and yearly instrumental recitals, with the transition from Primary to Secondary a seamless one.
Year 3 Strings Program
Students are selected by aptitude as to their suitability to join this program.
Year 4 Program
Students, selected by aptitude, are offered free group lessons with a specialist teacher on a brass. They form the Year 4 Band, which performs in competitions and for school functions. This program aims to provide musicians for the Primary Concert Band, leading into the Senior Concert and Jazz Bands.
Instrumental Music Program
Private lessons are available before, during or after school in the following instruments:
- Strings: violin, viola, cello, double bass, harp
- Woodwind: flute, clarinet, oboe, saxophone and bassoon
- Brass: trumpet, trombone, French horn, euphonium and tuba

These lessons are held in our specially designed instrumental rooms, which are fully soundproof and air conditioned. AMEB exams are offered for all instruments, as well as theory, and students are encouraged to take part in the College’s ensembles, bands or choirs.
