You Matter Day
March 19, 2021 @ 7:00 am - 3:00 pm
This year we’ll participating in National Day of Action Against Bullying by celebrating You Matter Day. The focus of the day is for students to demonstrate to each other that they are valued, they matter, and they belong, through their words and actions.
“And never let ugly or hateful words come from your mouth, but instead let your words become beautiful gifts that encourage others; do this by speaking words of grace to help them.”
Ephesians 4:29 TPT
On the day, Primary School Students will be encouraged to wear orange clothes and accessories.
Secondary School Students will be encouraged to wear an orange shirt and accessories with their sport shorts. If they are wearing free dress then they can bring a Gold Coin donation which will be collected classroom/Form class time and all proceeds will go to New Life Trust Orphanage in Myanmar.
There will be an opportunity for students to join in the fun by purchasing a magnetic ‘You Matter Day’ badge and Byron Bay Cookie. Students can also have the option of purchasing a cookie for someone else they would like to encourage along with a ‘Just a note to say’ card to write some words of encouragement.
The cost of these items will be as follows:
- Mini Dottie or Triple Choc Cookie Twin Pack (25 grams): $1.50
- Large Dottie or Triple Choc Cookie (60 grams): $3
- Gluten Free Large Dottie or Triple Choc Cookie (60 grams): $3.50
- 7.5cm Magnetic You Matter Day Badge: $1.50
These items will be available to purchase in the Main Forecourt Area before school from 7:30am – 8:25am and during Break 1 and Break 2 (or until sold out) and again proceeds will go to New Life Orphanage in Myanmar.
Please ensure that your child has the correct change (if possible). EFTPOS facilities will be available for Secondary School Students.
Unfortunately due to COVID restrictions, parents will be unable to attend our usual before school activities on You Matter Day this year, instead, we’re going to invite you to create You Matter Week at home! See our Facebook page for some ideas to get you started.
In the week leading up to You Matter Day we will be focusing on our message of Speaking Life in our morning devotions and chapels. We look forward to greeting you in the forecourt as you drop your children off as we start our morning activities.
Thank you for your support of the College’s initiatives.
