Personal Development Program – Secondary School

Year 7
Through a range of activities, students will learn strategies to enhance decision-making in a variety of areas. Topics studied will include:

  • Online activity
  • Goal setting and perseverance

Year 8
Learning experiences will focus on students understanding themselves and their motivations. Students will consider how they are contributing to their digital footprint. Topics studied will include:

  • Identity
  • Conflict resolution
  • Digital reputation
  • Social media
  • Bullying/cyber bullying
  • Impact of gaming

Year 9
The Rite Journey

This is a course designed to encourage students as they consider their abilities and interests. The program has the following goals:

  • To assist students as they focus on careers, employability and expectations in the workplace.
  • To provide an opportunity for students to use their abilities to give back through a community-based project.
  • To train students in the thoughtful and accountable use of time.

Years 11 & 12
The course explores a range of social issues relevant to young people preparing to move into the next phase of life beyond school. Topics studied will include:

  • Inspirational role models
  • Time management and study skills
  • The impact of alcohol
  • Leadership
  • Responsible decision-making
  • Participation in community
