As we approach the end of another busy and successful year, I would like to take this opportunity to thank you for the support and encouragement you have given both to your child or children and the College.
Having attended all of the Presentation nights and Celebration mornings, I am always amazed at the amount of talent our Genesis students have. More importantly, I am thrilled that over the years the College has provided more and more opportunities for our students to develop and showcase these abilities and talents.

Obviously our various events across the College in recent days have acknowledged the achievements of so many students for their efforts throughout the year. There is therefore, no need for me to revisit the specifics of any
individuals or teams. I do however want to acknowledge the staff at Genesis for the contribution to the success of this year. Expectations of staff at this College are high. They are expected to work diligently and hard. To get the outcomes we do across so many areas of endeavour, means that this is happening and the students are the beneficiaries of that. I thank them for their commitment demonstrated on a daily basis.

If you have walked through the primary precinct, you will notice that the playgrounds are gone. Due to the collapse and blocking of the main storm water pipes and overland flow, serious remediation work had to be
undertaken beneath the surface. The playgrounds therefore needed to be removed in order to do this work. Obviously, they were also getting towards the end of their safety and functional lives. Over the Christmas break,
weather permitting, the underground work will be completed and three new, age appropriate play areas will be installed. These play areas will have the new soft-fall weather surfaces as well as large shade sails installed. This
new area should prove to be very popular with the students in the new year.

Those that have been able to attend the various end of year functions will know there have been a number of occasions where we have recognised and acknowledged the staff that are retiring or resigning from the College
at the end of 2018. To each of them, we say a heartfelt thank you for your contribution to Genesis Christian College.

Finally, as we enter this Christmas Season, it is only fitting that I encourage us all to really embrace the message the angels heralded to the shepherds two thousand years ago “Today, in the town of David a Saviour has been
born to you, he is the Messiah, the Lord.” Luke 2:11.

May it be that the Christ of Christmas is acknowledged by all of us this year. In a world where the commercialisation of Christmas seems to reach new heights every year, it is easy for us to forget the real story and message of Christmas.

I trust those families relocating can do this hassle free and that students settle into their new schools quickly and successfully.

I wish all families a blessed Christmas and trust you are all able to enjoy a safe and relaxing break. Thank you again for your support throughout 2018.

God bless, Brian.
