Important Information for all Students Travelling on Buses

As travel arrangements are between parents and the bus company, it is important that students are carefully instructed  in the details. Children travelling on buses for the first time may need to have details written down for them.

All students using buses are to do so in a manner that does not endanger themselves or the safety of other passengers or road users or bring the good reputation of the College into disrepute.

Are you eligible for the Non State School Transport Assistance Scheme (NSSTAS)? To find out and for more information, visit the NSSTAS website here.

Primary School Students – Bus Use Procedures

  • The College provides supervision for Primary students after school until buses arrive, therefore, it is important that we capture details of children using bus services. For all Primary aged children using buses on any school day, a Bus Transportation Departure Form has to be completed.
  • Primary students needing to cross Youngs Crossing Road in the afternoon will meet with a Primary duty teacher near the Primary Chaplain’s Office (Mrs Pam Nadler) at 2.55pm. Students need to line up promptly to be escorted through the College grounds and cross over to the bus stop on the other side of the road. The Primary School duty teacher will supervise Primary students until their bus arrives, or until the Secondary duty teacher takes over between 3.05pm – 3.10pm.
  • Students who cross at the lights on Youngs Crossing Road in the morning need to know how to use the pedestrian refuge in the middle of the road. Pedestrian refuges allow you to concentrate on and cross one direction of traffic flow at a time. The pedestrian does not have right of way when using a pedestrian refuge with a marked crossing. To use a pedestrian refuge, the student must:
    • Wait until the traffic light indicates that it is safe to cross.
    • Move directly to the refuge.
    • Wait until the traffic light indicates that it safe to cross.
    • Move directly to the other side of the road.
