It’s long been established that outdoor learning has a positive impact for both students and teachers and we love the opportunity to get out of the classroom and into learning at Genesis.
This week our Primary teaching staff participated in a thoroughly enjoyable Professional Development session. Staff enjoyed spending time outdoors exploring ways to embed outdoor learning into the curriculum. Teachers built life-sized clocks, made silly syllable stew, simulated a tsunami and constructed a shelter to act as a meaningful stimulus for procedural writing.
Outdoor learning has many benefits for students including building skills in problem solving, collaboration and creativity.
The varied learning styles of students are catered for in an inclusive and multi-sensory manner. And the most meaningful benefit? Students are actively engaged in their learning.
